Oliver B. Hartley Sr., 73, of Athens, TN, formerly of Chattanooga, TN passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011, after a lengthy illness.
He was born August 9, 1938 to the late Tom and Cleo Hartley.
Mr. Hartley served in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lucille Tallent, Ruth Sons; and three brothers, Roy, Howard and Calvin Hartley.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Johnson Hartley; children, Oliver B. Hartley Jr., of Florida, Tom and Mike Hartley, of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; stepchildren, Cheri Pappas, LeBron, Frances and Bill Hubert, of Florida; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gussie Hale, Annie Gentry and Charlotte Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Brother Jerry Stephens officiating and Military Honors will follow.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hartley's family requests memorial contributions to: Amedisys Hospice Care, 614 Congress Parkway North, Athens, TN 37303.
Arrangements are by Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN.
