Private family services will be held for Mona E. Wells of Amity. Private interment will be in the Echo Cemetery.
Mrs. Wells died Oct. 7, 2003, in her home. She was 96.
She was born July 4, 1907, in Pendleton, the daughter of John A. and Elsie Etter Hartle. She was raised and educated in Umatilla. She moved to Hermiston in 1925.
She and Robert Beebe were married Jan. 2, 1928, in Pasco, Wash.
She moved to a ranch near Hermiston in 1942. She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1963.
She and Sherman Wells were married Aug. 28, 1970, in Hermiston.
After marrying, she lived in Hermiston and worked for Hermiston Glass for many years. She moved to Pendleton in 1984.
Mrs. Wells lived in McMinnville from 1990 to 1996, then moved to Heath Adult Foster Care in Amity, to be near a granddaughter.
She belonged to the Stanfield Grange Hall and White Shrine in Hermiston. As a member of the Ualter Rebekah Lodge in Hermiston, she received the 1955 Declaration of Chivalry for her service to the community and schools.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Hartle of Seattle and John Hartle Jr. of Diamondville, Wyo.; three sisters, Opal McCall of Portland, Letha Winburn of La Grande and Reta Ann Hodge of Quincy, Wash.;two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her second husband in 1984; a son, Gordon Beebe in 1996; a brother, Marvin Hartle, and a sister, Velma Strong.
