Bertha Bertsch wife of Phillip Bertsch and a lifetime area resident, died Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Carl Rodenbeck, where she had been staying the last month. Her home was about 4 miles north of Avilla on State Road 3, and she was born July 24, 1886, in Avilla, to George and Anna Mary Homsher Hart. Her marriage to Mr. Bertsch took place September 24, 1915. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kendallville. Surviving besides the husband and the daughter are two other daughters, Mrs. Everett Haynes and Mrs. William Hanna, Kendallville; a son Robert, at home; two grandchildren and a brother, Rollie D. Hart, Akron, Ohio. Services in St. John's Lutheran Church there. Burial, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery
