Services for Bessie Susan HARRISON BISHOP, Quitman, held 3 Apr 1999 at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Grady Crowell and Dr. John Stevens officiated. Died 1 Apr 1999, H, C. Watkins Memorial Hospital. Survivors - two sisters, Flossie STALLWORTH, Quitman; Lyda NORRELL, Huntsville, AL; seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces, great great nieces and nephews. Was a lifelong resident of Quitman, having finished high school with the class of 1932. Served in many county offices before starting her career as a beautician. Began her career working for Gladys Wright's Beauty Shop before owning and operating Bessie's Beauty Shop for approximately 55 years. Was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities, including being a member and president of the choir. Also worked diligently on the Hospital Committee and was known for her artistic ability. Always loved and considered her customers her friends as she did everyone in this area. Preceded in death by parents, Luther and Lillian HARRISON; husband, Wallace BISHOP; sister Flora SHEFFIELD LODING; one niece, Glenise SHEFFIELD PALMER. Pallbearers - Horace Kennedy, Jr., Donnie Dobbins, Rayborn Harrison, W. C. Boone, Fred Blackledge, James Buchanan, Jerry Haddox, Gene Sheffield. Honorary pallbearers were the Paratech Ambulance employees and the Medical Group employees. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritic Foundation or a favorite charity.
