Norma Harrison Pedro 1915 ~ 2005 Norma Harrison Pedro passed away August 18, 2005. She was born April 25, 1915, in Payson, Utah, to Lewis Ellis Harrison and Clara Stewart Harrison, the fifth of six children. Norma was raised in Springville, Utah, graduating from Springville High School. Norma was well known for her wonderful dramatic readings, which she continued to give well into her 80's. Norma moved to Salt Lake City in 1933 to study nursing at St. Mary's of the Wasatch and Holy Cross Hospital. She met Samuel J. Pedro while at the hospital and they were married in Provo, Utah, October 30, 1936. They made their home in Midvale, Utah. They had three children, Harrison Paul, Dolores Marie, and Clara Louise. Norma was a member of the LDS Church and held positions in the Primary and Young Women's Organizations. She was very proud of her pioneer ancestry and loved to retell their stories. She was a manager of the Midvale Elementary cafeteria for 25 years and was well known for her cooking both at home and professionally. She loved sports and was her grandchildren's most avid fan, attending their games faithfully. Norma is survived by Harrison (LaRee) Pedro, Wallsburg, UT; Dolores (Ralph) Vanderlinden, North Las Vegas, NV; and Louise Miller, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam (January 13, 1978); two sisters, Idonna Davis Lucas and Eileen Bird; and two brothers, Irvine Harrison and Damon Harrison; along with a half brother and sister. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Harrison and LaRee Pedro for the loving care they provided Norma for the past four years, and to the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber City, UT for their tender care. A viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah, Tuesday, August 23rd, from 10-11 a.m., after which graveside services will be held at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City. At Norma's request, there will be no memorial service.
