She was born July 4, 1954 in Tonawanda, N.Y., to Mervin and Janie Harris. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Greenwood, S.C.
Also surviving are her husband of 32 years, Rex Allen; a son, Ryan (Marianne) Allen of Chattanooga; a daughter, Laura (Todd) Jefferies of Atlanta, Ga.; and a sister, Nancy (John) DiCiurcio of Naperville, Ill.
She graduated from Kenton High School and was a graduate of the Ohio State Nursing School as a registered nurse.
