Sister Lelia bennett was born June 15, 1882 near the town of Oak Ridge, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Richard and Mrs. Callie Reeves Harris, she was the second child in a family of eight children. While still young the family moved to Mer Rouge, La. and settled near this vicinity, here her entire life was spent. In the year of 1898 she was married to the late Walter Bennett, and to this union was born seven children, three preceded her in death. In her early womanhood she was converted and became a member of the Little Dee M.B.C. under the leadership of the late Joe Bowler and her membership remained until death. During her sixty two years in the church she proved to be a faithful member. Sister Bennett departed this life Wednesday , December 8, 1965 at the age of eighty three. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Minnie E. Brunson, Holly Ridge, Louisiana, Mrs. Callie Burrell, Mer Rouge, Louisiana, Mrs. Lula B. Bennett, San Luis Obisbo, Calif, Mrs. Doris Adair, Seattle, Washington, one foster son Mr. Willie Bennett, Oakland, Calif. Three son-in-laws, two sisters, Mrs. Dello Henderson, Oakland, Calif. Mrs. Cora Mae Foster, St Louis,Mo. One brother Mr. Ivory J. Harris, Mer Rouge, La. Twenty grand children, forty nine great-grandchildren, eleven great-great grand children
