Mrs. Dora Middleton died Monday in Independence.

Mrs. Dora Melissa Middleton, formerly of Altoona, passed away Monday, August 27 at 3:17 a.m. at the Kretzer Nursing Home in Independence. Death was due to old age and its complications. She had been ill for two years.

Dora Melissa Harris was born October 5, 1870 at New Albany, Kansas and was 80 years, 10 months and 22 days of age at the time of her death. She was married in 1889 at Fredonia to Thomas A. Middleton. They moved to Altoona in 1904. Mr. Middleton passed away May 6, 1920. She was a member of the Altoona Christian Church. Mrs. Middleton had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Verne Blex and Mr. Blex since the death of her daughter, Miss Zella Middleton in 1949. Surviving children are Mrs. Arthur Broadbent and Mrs. Blex, Independence, Walter Middleton, Parsons, and Gleen Middleton, Elk City. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters 4 brothers. Also by a daughter, Zetta, twin sister of Zella.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon in the Altoona Christian Church in charge of Elder S. F. Scott. Interment, under the direction of the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home was in the Altoona cemetery.
