Funeral Services Held Monday For Former RESIDENT Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Babcock, 65, of 121 Roosevelt Place, Apt. 122, Peoria, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the Wilton Mortuary.
Born December 28, 1889 in LaRose, Ill., she was the daughter of George and Sarah K. Glover Harris.
She married Alva Babcock in Chillicothe in September 1908.
She was a member of Tyng Memorial church and the Rebekah lodge.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Charles H. Babcock at Elgin Air Force Base, Florida; tow brothers, Leslie Harries of Ottawa and John Harris of Chillicothe; and two sister, Mrs. Mary Auer of Peoria and Mrs. Jessie Beam of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Mrs. Babcock is a former resident of this community.
She was a patient in St. Francis hospital in Peoria from October 31 until her passing away January 15.
Rev. Bertram Betteridge officiated. Interment was in the Blue Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews.
Among those attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Murray Babcock, Mrs. and Mrs. William McDonald of Wyoming, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Talbert, Mrs. Leona Messersmith and Mrs. Floyd Mammert of Princeville, Mr. Babcock and Mrs. McDonald were brother-in-law and sister-in-law of Mrs. Babcock Mr. Talbert and Mrs. Mummert were nephew and niece of the deceased.
