Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Methodist church in Tuttle for Nina Ellen (Nellie) Gurley Harris, 61, who passed away Monday in the University Hospital in Oklahoma City where she had been a patient only a few days. Rev John Lomax was in charge of the service. Pallbearers were: Russell Hambleton, Joe Hartin, Bruce Hambleton, Fred McCain, Stevie Chenoweth, & Hubert Wester.
Interment was in the Fairlawn cemetery at Tuttle under direction of Sowers funeral home.
Nina Ellen Gurley Harris was born 10/20/1887 at Hillsboro, Ohio, daughter of Henry & Margaret Duckwall. She married Homer H. Gurley in 1907 and they made their home at Tuttle in 1890 and have lived in this vicinity since. They had 6 children, 2 having preceded her in death as well as Mr Gurley & Mr Harris.
The surviving children are, Clyde Gurley of Oklahoma City, Mrs Elsie Herrington of Beebe, Ark, Kenneth
Gurley of Blanchard, Mrs Margaret Sumner of Oklahoma City, and six grandchildren. The surviving brothers & sisters are, George Duckwall of Tuttle, Wade Duckwall of Tuttle, Mrs Jennie Gossett of Stillwater, & Clyde Duckwall of Oklahoma City. One sister & 2 brother are already dead. In 1900, Mrs Harris moved with her family to Tuttle where she attended school. She was very attentive of the church services at the Snowhill Church.
