Nancy Aldridge [Harris] was born 10 November 1831 in Tazewell, Missouri to William and Elizabeth Aldridge. She joined the LDS church as a child, later crossed the plains to Utah with her family. She married John Smith Harris 4 April 1850. They had nine children and adopted a Native American boy. Nancy was a very kind, loving, and light-hearted person. She had an excellent voice and entertained children continually. John and Nancy lived in CA, UT, & AZ, ending up in St. Johns in 1880. They had moved at least six times, during 29 years of their marriage, enduring many hardships, including drought, floods, polygamy, and Indian wars. In 1890, many polygamist families went to Mexico, including John and Idora, his second wife. Nancy could not bring herself to leave her home again at age 59. She remained in St. Johns with her family, and died less than a year later, 11 Feb 1891.
