Ruth Pauline Ashley, 78, of Clendenin, W.Va., died at home after a short illness.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Jones Harper. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John P. Ashley; son, the Rev. John P. Ashley Jr.; brothers, Noble and Eugene Harper; sisters, Opal tTylor and Freda Cunningham.
She was a member of the Thelma Chapter No. 24 Order of the Eastern Star, Clendenin and VFW Post 8516 Ladies Auxiliary, Pinch. She was a Christian.
Surviving are son, Mike Ashley of French Creek; daughters, Betty Armstead of Winfield, W.Va., Kathy Payne of Clendenin, W.Va.; brother, Walter Harper of Walton, W.Va.; sisters, Effie Swiney of Kanawha City, W.Va., Lucille Harris of Spencer, W.Va., Libby Aab and Betty Harris, both of Elkview, W.Va.; grandchildren, Malinda, Davey, Alicia, Stephanie, Sabrina and Johnny Mac.
Servces will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Matics Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
