Velma J. Harner, of Gettysburg, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, August 5, 2009, in Hanover.

Born April 29, 1925, in West Manheim Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Edith C. (Sullivan) Klinedinst.

Velma worked for Windsor Shoe Company and later retired from Freeman Shoe Company in 1985 after 45 years of service. She was a longtime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Littlestown. Velma enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, watching NASCAR, and especially watching the Baltimore Orioles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

She was the beloved wife of LeRoy Harner, whom she wed February 9, 1947. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Velma is survived by a son, Keith Harner and wife, Sandra of York; a daughter, Sandra Staub and husband, Alan of Littlestown; five grandchildren, Greg Harner, Doug Harner, Karen Heath, Brandon Staub, and Jordan Staub; great-grandson, Lucas Heath; and three sisters, Naomi Geiman of Hanover, Ethel Rohrbaugh of Middletown, and Marie Miller of York.

In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her son, Dawson Harner; her brothers, Mahlon Klinedinst and Robert Klinedinst; and her sister, Mary Harner.
