Della E. Bloom, 90, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 3:35 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Della was born on June 16, 1924 in South Bend to John and Clara (Lee) Harnden, and was a lifelong resident.
She had been employed for 31 years as a cashier at the K-Mart in Mishawka, where she retired in June 1997. She had also been employed with the Bendix Corporation and South Bend Drug.
Della is survived by her daughter, Cindy (George) Sikora of New Carlisle, Indiana; her son, Jerry (Carole) Pethick of Thornton, Colorado; six grandchildren, Tracy (Jeff) White, Chris Jakubowicz, Amy (Kris) Kush, Ashley Sikora, Shawn Sikora, and Jerzee Sikora; seven great-grandchildren, Adrian White, Alyssa White, Megan Jakubowicz, Grace SuetKamp and Anthony Joseph Jakubowicz; and her brother, Jim (Carol) Hylman of Florida.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Harnden; her sister, Gertrude (Carl) Liggett, and her brother Phillip Hylman.
Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2015 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. A visitation will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Della loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and traveling. She was an animal lover and had taken in many needy animals to love in her lifetime. She had a special relationship with her great granddaughter, Jerzee who was there to comfort her during her passing. She always made her laugh and Della was very proud of her.
