Minter Hardy Morris Boles, a longtime resident of Bexar County, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 6:13 p.m. in the Morningside Manor Nursing Home in San Antonio at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 14 days.
Minter was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and worked as an attendant with the state hospital in San Antonio, retiring after many years of faithful service.
Her parents were Charles Austin and Vannie Whitehead Hardy. Her grandparents were Henry Bishop Hardy, Mary Ann Woolf Hardy, Clarence Lee Whitehead, and Lilla Helms Whitehead, all of Wilson County. Minter's great-grandparents were Beamon Barnes Hardy and Frances Jane Hardy, and W.D.W. Whitehead of Mississippi, along with Gabriel Helms and Rachel Josephine Hobbs Helms and Victoria Reed Whitehead Talley, all of Gonzales County. Minter was the sister of Vance Black Hardy Sr., Hazel Hardy Hamilton, and Adeline Hardy, all of whom preceded her in death.
Survivors include: daughter, Fay Nell Howarth; son, Gary W. Mercer; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Minter was laid to rest alongside many of her family members at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, in the Marcelina Cemetery in Wilson County, with the Rev. Olen Wilson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Gary Mercer, Robert Mercer, Walter Hamilton, Paul O'Dea, Bob Magers, and Charles Hardy.
