OBITUARY: The Daily Herald, Biloxi MS
The funeral for Emile O. Harder, 71, 8418 Northview Dr., Jackson, formerly of Biloxi, who died Tuesday at St. Dominic Hospital, was held Wednesday from Fondren Presbyterian church. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park.

The family prefers memorials to Fondren Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Harder, born in New Orleans, on Dec. 26, 1903, was the son of the late Clara L'Hoste and Emile O. Harder of Biloxi. He was reared in Biloxi and resided in New Orleans prior to moving to Jackson 38 years ago where he
was associated for several years with Godchaux and Mayor General Agency and more recently with Whitsett Insurance Agency.

An elder of the Fondren Presbyterian Church, he had served as commissioner to the General Assembly, was twice Moderator of the Central Mississippi Presbytery and president of the Mississippi Synod of Men of the Church.
He had an active role in forming of Trinity, Briarwood and Lakeside Presbyterian churches.

He has served as state chairman of volunteer services of Mental Health and for many years as secretary of the Board of Friends of Alcoholics. He was a member of the board of directors of the Mississippi State YMCA and was a past president of the Pioneer Insurance Club of Mississippi.
