Nancy C. (Hannan) Adamo, 72, formerly of Center Street, Canastota, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Oneida Healthcare, following a brief illness.
She was born on Aug. 29, 1939, in the Town of Sullivan, a daughter of George, Sr. and Gladys (Shortsleeve) Hannan.
Nancy lived in Canastota all of her life, spending her early years on the family farm on Indian Opening Road.
She worked at General Electric in Syracuse for many years, later working at the Hampton Inn in East Syracuse, retiring in 1997.
Nancy loved the N.Y. Yankees, NASCAR, the Food Network Channel, bingo and animals, especially her beloved cat "Snowball."
Surviving are: one son, Carl Adamo, of Oneida; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Carl Tornberg, Angela and Pete Wingerter, all of Canastota, and Annette and Abdelali Hani of Oneida; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, George and Sue Hannan, Jerry and Lynn Hannan, all of Canastota, and Harry Hannan of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Irene Arnold of Rochester, and Mary Lou and Harland Chaires of Canastota; nine grandchildren, who lovingly gave her the nickname "Bee-Journal;" nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy was predeceased by a brother, Sheridan Hannan; and four sisters, Harriet Hannan, Rosemary Johnson, Doris Fazio and Louise Hannan.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. Father James Heidt of St. John's Episcopal Church, Oneida, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
