Bessie was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charley H. Hanna. Her mother (name unknown) had died sometime before June 2, 1900. Bessie, age 8, & her father, age 32, who was a carpenter, lived with her grandparents, William & Emily Jane Hanna in Howe.
Charley's father died sometime before April 19, 1910. Charley, 41, & Bessie, 17, still lived in Howe with Emily, whose husband had died sometime before this date.
Emily Jane died on the evening of Nov. 22, 1910, from Uremia. Bessie married Claude Douglas Callaway in 1914.
In January 1920 Bessie & Claude lived with her father, Charles who still worked as a carpenter. Claude worked as a pressman in a cotton gin.
Claude died on Jun. 25, 1941.
Bessie, whose residence was in Howe, was in The Chapel of Care Nursing home when she died at 11:40 a.m.on January 24, 1975, from an Acute Myocardial Infarction. She was 82. Her nephew, Jack Callaway, was the informant on her death certificate.
