Services for Hester B. Coffman, 96, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Harvey-Douglas Chapel with Mr. Bob Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born on Sept. 13, 1909, to the Rev. George W. and Sally Theresa Munday Hanks in Sneed, she died on May 24, 2006, in Ardmore. She married James Hubert Coffman, who preceded her in death in December 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sally Hunt, on April 2, 1993; three brothers, Oliver, Jim and Floyd Hanks; and two sisters, Alma Palmer and Zelma Pullen.
She was a resident of the area for most of her life. She received her teaching degree from Southeastern College and taught at Lone Grove, Mannsville and Vanoss. She was also a coach. Later she went to work for the Seventh-day Adventist Hospital and retired as a Ward Clerk. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Carter Avenue Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Mike Coffman and his wife, Deanna, of Ardmore; five grandchildren, Darren and Derrick Coffman, Daria Porter, Michael Hunt and Cody Clay; and four great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Kenneth Hunter, Bobby Neasbitt, Jimmy Coffman, Jody Anthony, Doug Sanders and Randal Smith.
