Answers the Death Summons of her Master at 3 o'clock Tuesday Morning

Mrs. Sarah F. Smith died at her home on the west side of town Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock; just with the waking of a new day she went to sleep like a tired child. After a long, busy and useful life she died as she has lived -- honored, trusted and loved. She red her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her christian life was beautiful from its beginning to its close, and through all the suffering and sorrow she met in the way, her faith in God never waved. It is difficult to pay a fiting tribute to the memory of so noble a woman. Mrs. Smith remained concious until almost the last: realized that her life was near its close talked with the family, manifested not dread, and bravely awaited the end. She was a faithful member of the M.E. church having united with it, about 35 years ago. She was born in Brown Co. Indiana Nov. 14th, 1842, and was united in marriage to James Smith in Jan. 1860. To this union there was born 7 children, five daughters survive her, (two having preceded her in death), who with several grandchildren and her aged companion mourn her death. A short service was held at her late home Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, after which the remains were taken to the Pleasant Grove church near Brushy Fork, where the family formerly residing for years, where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Dundas pastor of the M.E. church at the place, after which the remains were interred in the silent city within the old church yard.
