CAR INSPECTOR KILLED
Companion of Wm. Hankins Injured When Engine Hits Coach.
William A. Hankins, 52 years old, Lexington street, West Covington, Ky., was killed, and Wilmer Wright, 42 years old, 1058 West Liberty Street, was injured when a railroad locomotive backed into a railroad coach which the men were inspecting at Sixth and Bay-miller streets early yesterday morning. Both men were car inspectors on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
Neither man, police were told, heard the engine approaching. The engine, it is said, crashed into the car pinning Hankins against the side of the coach. His left leg was crushed and he sustained internal injuries.
Wright sustained internal injuries. Hankins died at the Seton Hospital. Wright, Seaton Hospital physicians say, is expected to recover.
Hankins is survived by his widow, two sons and a daughter.
