Cordelia was born in January 27, 1915, the daughter of George W. and Carrie (Mummert) Hamilton. Cordelia was a graduate from Savanna High School in Savanna, IL. She attended Shimer College in Mt. Carroll and Augustana University in Rock Island, Illinois. On June 17, 1937, Cordelia married Paul O. Becker.
Cordelia taught in Savanna and Lanark, Illinois schools for many years. She was member of the Community United Church of Christ Savanna, Illinois, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and the Home Extension Services Association.
Cordelia put her home and family first throughout her life. She was a dedicated teacher and loved all of the children that were her students. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, singing, theater, boating and family gatherings. Her life is celebrated by her family, she will be very missed by all.
Cordelia is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne Hamilton of Monona, WI; Margaret Hammer and her husband Kent of Andrew, IA; five grandchildren, Aura Leigh Borrett and her husband Michael of Oregon, WI, Brady Paul Berquist and his wife Kim of Fort Atkinson, WI, Nathan George Hammer of Vail, CO, Russell Edward Hammer and his wife Kristian of Onalaska, WI., and Sally Anne Hammer of Hilton Head Island, SC; five great-grandchildren, Dane Matthew Berquist, Davin Mitchell Berquist, and Jackson Paul Hammer, Kelley Marasch and Jake Marasch ; brother, George W. Hamilton II and wife Ann of Kingman, AZ.; and sister, Alice Clark of Forsyth, MO.; a sister in-law, Jeanne Hamilton of Milpitis, CA.
Cordelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; one brother, Edward; and one sister, Frances.
