Paul W. Hamblen, Jr., beloved father, son, brother, grandson, and nephew, passed away February 27, 2015 at the age of 44 at Methodist Germantown Hospital. Paul was the oldest child and only son of the late Rev. Mr. Paul W. Hamblen, Sr. and Mary Hamblen of Germantown TN. He graduated from St. John Catholic School and Memphis Catholic High School. Paul leaves many family members and friends to cherish his memory including his children, son Shaun and daughter Morgan Hamblen; his mother, Mrs. Paul W. Hamblen, Sr. (Mary); his sister, Angela Hamblen; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Paul L. Hamblen (Theresa); many aunts, uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles, and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Mr. Paul W. Hamblen, Sr., his paternal grandfather, Paul L. Hamblen, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sanders. Paul worked as a sales representative for several major Memphis companies and was well-known in the grocery and restaurant business. He was known as a hard-working, honest, friendly man who could get along with everyone. One of his friends described Paul as “a real stand-up guy”. The greatest love in his life was his two children, Shaun and Morgan. They gave meaning and purpose to his life and filled him with joy and pride. Anyone who knew Paul knew about Shaun and Morgan and his complete devotion to them. Paul had a huge, giving heart and was always willing to help anyone and asked little recognition for himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his presence brought warmth, smiles, and joy to all who were blessed to share in his life. Visitation will be 5:30-7 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m., Monday March 2nd, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception followed by burial in Southwoods Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to www.gofundme.com/paulhamblen for the future educational needs of Paul’s children.
