Anton was the son of Jan & Margaretha (Baumann) Hambek, born in Ocelof. He came to the U.S. in 1882 with several of his siblings, one of which was Vaclav Hambek, also an early settler of Boyd county. He worked in steel and flour mills in Michigan, Wisconsin and by 1884 was working in the mills in Omaha, NE.
Anton married Anna Margaret Chmelek in 1887 in Omaha, NE. They farmed in Brown county, NE and then moved to a homestead in Boyd county, NE in 1892. Their farm was located near Gross, NE. Around 1900, they sold the homestead and moved to a farm south of Spencer.
Anton and Anna had children: Anna Pitchford, Anton, Mary Jacoby, James, Lillian, Joseph, Frances Filsinger, Emil, Sophia and Frank.
