The following was taken from Julia's obituary. See William's site for information about the family's migration west.
Julia died near Longford, Kansas, May 19, 1904, at 10:25 am. She was married to W.H. Anthony, February 28, 1848, in Northhampton County, Pennsylvania. Her last days were days of intense suffering, during which she often spoke words of sympathy to her husband. She was baptized in childhood in the Lutheran faith; the names of F.W. Manson and Julia Ann Buchman appear as witnesses to her baptism.
She was happily coveted to God under the labors of Reverend P. Waggoner of the Evangelical Church, with which she united and remained a faithful member till death. She leaves a sorrowing husband, four girls, three boys, twenty-two grandchildren and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. May God grant the family a happy reunion on the Other Side. Funeral serviced by Reverend H.?. Price.
Daughter Mary Rebecca Hall Mills obituary states that " at an early age (about 13) she had charge of the family whilst her mother was poorly, as the older sisters had married previously."
