Aunt Biddy was a former slave and she and her husband, Samuel came to Hawleyville shortly after the Civil War. She was born ca 1832, and died April 21, 1920 in Clarinda at the home of her niece, Mrs. Nash. She is buried in the Hawleyville Cemetery.
According to the 1870 census of Page County, they had the following children: Isabella, born ca 1857; Samuel, born ca 1860; and Elizabeth [Lizy Jane], born ca 1862. In the 1880 census they had two grandchildren living with them: Emerson Scott, aged 3 years; and Bertie Scott, aged 3 months. [Could these be Isabella's children?]

Another one of Page County's oldest residents passed away at the home of her niece, Mrs. Nash, in this city, Wednesday, April 21st, in the person of Aunt Biddy Hall, as she was known. She and her husband came to Hawleyville shortly after the Civil War and since Mr Hall's death has been living there.
