CRAWFORD, Dorothy Hall, 81, June 29, 2012, of heart failure in the Somerfield at the Heritage nursing home in Brentwood.
She was born in Madison, her family moved to Nashville where she graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Ward-Belmont College.
The second of three daughters of the late George and Thelma Smith Hall, she was the loving mother of three.
She was a person of many interests and projects from visualizing and sewing costumes for dance groups and costume party attendees to designing and helping construct patios, gardens and landscapes. She then moved on to a bolt by bolt dismantling, cleaning and restoration of two 1930 Model A Ford Coupes. Her love of reading, researching and learning lead her to genealogy, one of her final projects. She spent years traveling to research census records, city, county and state archives and cemeteries across the state, or wherever the trail led her. When she quit driving, she turned to the internet, researching and sharing information with other genealogists until shortly before her death.
She was survived by her sisters & brothers-in-law, of Spring Hill; of Meredith, NH. Her daughter & son-in law, her son & daughter-in-law, all Nashville.
She was affectionately know as "Mom Dot" by three grand sons, a grand daughter-in-law and great grand daughter, of Mountain View, CA and Nashville.
At her request, there was no visitation, memorial service or funeral. Her remains will be cremated and placed in her memorial urn at Mt. Olivet Cemetery by members of the immediate family.
