Erma Jo Haberman, 73, of Ellensburg died Aug. 13, 2003.
She was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Ozone, Ark., the daughter of Harvey and Haney McElroy. In 1943 the family moved to Easton and then to Ellensburg. Erma Jo graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1948.
On June 18, 1949, Erma married Joe Haberman at Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Ellensburg. Together they raised four children.
Erma retired from the Ellensburg School District in June 1993. Erma cherished her grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed yard work, crossword puzzles, quilting and visiting. Erma Jo loved exercising with the "Golden Girls" bunch. This group was a great source of support after her beloved Joe passed away. She was the world's best caregiver and friend. All who knew her loved her.
Erma is survived by her children, Connie (Bob) Dove, Rick (Wendy) Haberman, Marla (Shan) Rowbotham and Dale (Kathy) Haberman. She also has eight grandchildren: Eric and Brent Haberman, Kyle and Craig Rowbotham, Cole and Kale Haberman and W.C. Goss and Joanna Dove. Additional survivors include siblings; Leland (Carrie) McElroy, Sun (Don) Smith, Glennis (Ron) Hummel, Kirk McElroy; brother-in-law, Richard (Ginger) Haberman and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joe Haberman; parents; her in-laws, George and Ruby Haberman; and sister, Ruby Zienick.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Ellensburg. Internment immediately follows at IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Kittitas County Historical Society or the charity of your choice.
