Mary Ann Booth Gwathmey was one of the children born to William Aylett Booth and his wife Sarah Hite.

Mary Ann was united in marriage on December 7, 1807 in Louisville, Kentucky to Samuel Gwathmey, one of the sons of Owen Gwathmey, Jr. and his wife Ann Rogers Clark. Mary Ann and Samuel were blessed with at least five children during their marriage:

Rebecca Ann Gwathmey Tyler
Baylor Hill Gwathmey
William Clark Gwathmey
Maria Ellen Gwathmey
Mary Eliza Gwathmey

Mary Ann's older sister, Ann Buchanan Booth was the first Booth sister to marry into the Owen Gwathmey, Jr.-Ann Rogers Clark family when she married their eldest son, John Gwathmey.

Mary Ann passed away in the same year as her husband. They are interred with four of their five children in the same burial lot. There fifth child, Rebecca Ann, is interred in Cave Hill Cemetery in a different area with her husband, Henry Samuel Tyler, Sr. and some of their children.
