Walter was the husband of Mabel King Guy and the father of several children; Caroline C., Mathenida, Ida M., Mathelia, and Harold G. Guy. In 1910, he lived in Dauphin, Pennsylvania and in Menallen, Pennsylvania in 1930. He died in Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1945. He was the youngest child in his family and the brother of John W., Ida Mae, Alice V., Charles H., Stewart, and Hunter D. He is buried next to his wife.
