Doris M. Brough, 93, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at a local health care facility.
Doris was born March 10, 1916, to Homer and Bertha (Jeffries) Gutridge in St. Joseph.
She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and was a homemaker. She had also worked for Big Smith, Noma Lites, and St. Joseph Tobacco Company. Doris was also a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She married Vernon Brough on October 27, 1930, in St. Joseph. They were married for 53 years until his passing. She was also preceded by her parents; brother, Glenn Gutridge; and sister, Maxine Heater.
Survivors include her daughter, Patty Lemmon and husband, Tom, St. Joseph; three grandchildren: Lezlee Nordstorm and husband, Tim, Overland Park, Kan.; Julie Close and husband, Joe, and Cory Lemmon and wife, Mandy, all of Leawood, Kan.; seven grandchildren: Rylee, Zoe, and Preston Nordstrom; Major, Max, and Mason Close; and Brody Lemmon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will begin after 12 Friday at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Interment: Mount Auburn Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
