Alice Marie Gunnell died on April 13 in Los Gatos, CA. Alice loved the Town of Los Gatos, where she had been a resident since the early 1940s, and all cats, several of whom were family members for many years. Alice was born in Corning, CA. and graduated from Corning High School and Chico State College. She was a member of the San Jose State University staff for over 30 years where she worked as executive assistant to the Dean of Education and later as a career counselor.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Irwin G. Gunnell, her sisters, Edith Zausen and Ruth TenEyck, and her niece, Marilyn Larrance. She is survived by her nieces, Linda Zausen, Joann Zausen, and Marjorie TenEyck; 3 great-nieces, Laurie, Pamela, and Connie; one great-nephew, Steven; and several great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, at 12:00 noon in Los Gatos Memorial Park. Donations can be made to the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, Alley Cat Allies, or any charity of their choice.
