Officer Ann Guinta was killed Saturday morning July 20 2002, in a traffic accident while en route to a call on N Decatur Rd in Scottdale when she swerved to avoid a car. She lost control of her police vehicle and crashed down an embankment. Witnesses said Guinta's split-second reactions saved their lives. Chief E. J. Moody said, "This officer died doing what officers do... trying to help others." He went on to say, "This officer was energetic, positive... a loss to the family of DeKalb police."
