CARENCRO - Funeral services for Mrs. George Guilbeau, the former Elizabeth "Isabelle" Arceneaux, 89, were held at 2 p.m. today in St. Peters Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery.The Rev. Gregory Downs, pastor of St. Peters Catholic Church, conducted the services.
Mrs. Guilbeau, a native of Carencro, a former resident of Church Point for 14 years and a resident of Carencro for the rest of her life, died at 3 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 1998, at her residence. She was a parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church and the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society, Ladies Altar Society, God's Little Dusters and Children of Mary. Mrs. Guilbeau was also a member and promoter of the Sacred Heart League, A.A.R.P. and the Cankton Swingers. She was awarded the Bishop's Medal in 1993 by Bishop Harry Flynn and awarded a special pin for her volunteer work for R.S.V.P. Mrs. Guilbeau was a member and was chosen thefirst queen of Les Bonne Coer's of Carencro and was presently on the committee.
Survivors include: a sister, Mrs. Hugh (Henrietta) Okeeffe of Carencro.
Mrs. Guilbeau was preceded in death by her husband, George Guilbeau; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ovide Arceneaux, mother the former Aurelia Mouton, both natives of Carencro; four brothers, Jules, Ulric, Lizzie and Hubert Arceneaux; and four sisters, Mrs. Claude (Cecil) Guidry, Mrs. Regis (Philomene) Guidry, Miss Leona Nana Arceneaux and Miss Evelyn Marie Arceneaux.
