Evelyn Guice Ballard, 93, passed from this life Sunday, March 17 at Hospice
Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM Wednesday at
Wright and Ferguson downtown Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in
the funeral home chapel with interment at Lakewood South Cemetery on McCluer
Road.
She had a long career as the City Clerk for the city of Jackson under the
administrations of Mayors Allen Thompson, Russell Davis, and Dale Danks. She was
a former member of Robinson Street Baptist Church, and is currently a member of
Lakeshore Methodist Church in Byram.
Evelyn was born in Meadville to the late John Grantham Guice and Reba Guice. She
was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ballard, Sr., and sister, Pauline
Fortenberry. She is survived by sons Charles Ballard, Jr. and wife Darlene of
Raymond and Sherrell Ballard and wife Lori of Flora; grandchildren Christy
Bearden and husband Richard of Brandon, John Ballard and wife Jennifer of Ray
City, Georgia, and Michelle Renfroe and husband Jeff of Flora; five great
