Cecelia D. Guernsey, age 84, of Main St., Danbury, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital, on Saturday, March 28, 2009. Cecelia was born in Danbury, daughter of the late Thomas and Anne (Ashley) Delaney. She was raised in Redding and attended Redding schools. She worked for many years at the Capital Machine Company and later for the Salvation Army of Danbury. She enjoyed tag sales and flea markets and was loved by all that knew her. She is survived by a son, Tom Drake and wife, Diane, of Warren; and a daughter, Agnes Sauli and husband, Guy, of Danbury; six grandchildren; Tom Drake, Lisa Cornell and husband Rob, Phyllis Drake, Kevin Drake, Terri Sauli and David Sauli and wife Cathy; six great-grandchildren; Robby Cornell, Alyssa Cox, Brandon Cox, Cailie George, Andrew Sauli and Autumn Sauli, as well as her beloved companion, John Perry and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is preceased by her late husbands, Ivan Drake and Joseph Guernsey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Praxair Cancer Center, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Abrams and Dr. Hegde and the staff of the Praxair Center and the staff of the ICU Unit at Danbury Hospital for their advice, caring and support.
