Worcester - Carmen Louise (Rodgriguez) Grover, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012, in her home surrounded by family. She is survived by her children, Anthony Rios, Noreen Hernandez, Annette Mojica, Karen Powell, Joanmarie Delaney, and Joseph Grover. She loved her family dearly including her 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and her companion, Rudolpho Cespedos.
Born in New York City, New York, she was the youngest of six children of Joseph and Angelina (Cisneros) Rodriguez, with her surviving siblings, Richard and Yolanda. Carmen was a member of St. Peter's Church, and an active community organizer in Worcester who dedicated more than a decade of her life to helping people live a better life. She established and lead numerous community and social organizations, helping to build public parks, keeping neighborhoods clean and safe, and nurturing cultural diversity. In 1996, Carmen's lasting impact on the betterment of Worcester was honored with the "Key To The City" by the Mayor. She will continue to be loved and remembered fondly by her family and friends who cherish who she was as a person and what she did to help build a better tomorrow for her community. Carmen loved playing Scrabble with her family, getting lucky at Bingo with friends and watching westerns with her "best friend," Sasha.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St. with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 931 Main St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
