She was born December 6, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ray and Nellie (Breda) Grover. Lorraine graduated from Frederika (IA) High School. She was united in marriage with William E. Denton on July 30, 1944 in Peru, Indiana.
Lorraine worked in the office at the JC Penney Store in Waterloo for 35 years, retiring in 1984. She was a World War II US Navy Veteran.
Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Denton of Waterloo; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Vivian Hagedorn of New Hampton, IA and Fern Oman of Cedar Falls, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Elton Grover.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Chapel in Waterloo. Full Military Honors will be accorded by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Burial will be in the Alcock Cemetery, rural Frederika. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 and an hour prior to the services on Friday at the Funeral Home.
