A PIONEER CITIZEN CALLED--VALPARAISO VISITOR --May 29, 1913--Charles F. Groth, was born in Germany August 15, 1840, coming to this country when he was eleven years old. Since that time he made his own living. Before the railroads were built he drove the stage with ox teams. In 1871 he took a homestead five miles southeast of Valparaiso and has lived there ever since. He had been sick for over two years and has been bedfast for the last three months. Mr. Groth was a kind husband a devoted father and was known by all of his friends as a man who was always true to his word and absolutely honest in all his business transactions. Peace and rest be to his sleeping dust.
