Marie T. Block, 87, of rural Hillman, MN, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 , at her home. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a. m. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bull Dog Lake, 1182 County Road 8, Hillman, MN 56338. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 P. M. on Thursday, June 13, 2013 and one hour prior to the service.
Marie Theresa Gross was born on October 10, 1925 in Granite Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the daughter of Theodore & Mathida (Kapsner) Gross. She was united in marriage to Theodore Block on September 3, 1951 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Bull Dog Lake. The couple made their home on a farm in Richardson Township where they raised their family. Marie enjoyed dancing, gardening, crocheting, baking, playing cards and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the St. Elizabeth's Council.
Marie's husband of 61 years, Theodore "Ted" Block", passed away on September 16, 2017. Left to cheris her memory were children, Roger (Sandy) Block of Hillman, MN, Audrey Johnson of Castle Rock, Co, Terry (David) Barnhart of Bozeman, MT, Julie (Wesley) Rowcliffe of Osage, IA, Carol (Dan) Bleichner of Hillman, MN, and Ronald (finance, Carrie Aydt) of Hillman, MN; siblings, Martha (Al) Holley of Osteen, FL, Eva (Joe) Tembruel of St. Paul, MN, Ben (Ginny) Gross of Hillman, MN, George Gross of Moose Lake, MN, Irene (Walter) Schlegel of Brainerd, MN, Delores (Bill) Rauch of Cottage Drove, MN; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore & Mathilda Gross; son-in-law, Douglas Johnson and sisters, Ceal MIers, Agnes Schommer and Hilda Lacher.
