He also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Martin Dehaan, and two brothers, Sylvan S. and Gerald D. Grosner. Obit: Mr. Clarence Grosner … store head dies.
~ Clarence W. Grosner, 65, founder and president of Raleigh haberdasher, 1310 F st. nw., died yesterday [Jan. 16, 1952] after a brief illness.
~ A native of Washington, he began in the men's apparel business with his father and in 1911 opened Raleigh Haberdasher at 1109 Pennsylvania ave. nw. The store was moved to its present location in the early 20s.
~ Well known for his civic and philanthropic work here, he was a director of the Washington Better Business Bureau and was an active member of the Board of Trade, the Pentalpha Masonic Lodge, Woodmont Country Club, and Washington He-brew Congregation.
~ Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Frances K. Grosner, Shoreham Hotel; two daugh-ters, Mrs. Bernard Grabois and Miss Marion Grosner, both of New York City; a sister, Mrs. Martin Dehaan, Los Angeles; and two brothers, Gerald D. Grosner, 2938 New-ark ave. nw. and Sylvan S. Grosner, Detroit.
~ Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bernard Danzansky Funeral Home, 3501 14th st. nw. Burial will be in the Washington Hebrew Congregation Cemetery. [The Washington Post. January 17, 1952]
