Gerald "Jerry" Ernest Griego, was born on January 5, 1945 and passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 21, 2012 in Farmington, New Mexico at the age of 67. Jerry grew up in Mountainair, New Mexico and later moved to Blanco, New Mexico. Jerry served his country proudly in Vietnam and worked as an Ironworker out of Local Union 495 for many years. Jerry will be remembered for his love of life, hard work and sense of humor. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Miguel Griego and his brother, Mike Griego Jr. Jerry is survived by his mother, Eva Griego, son, Vencent and his wife, Anathea, son, Steven, daughter, Geneva, sister, Gloria Chavez, grandchildren, Alexandria, Amri, Ariel, Lucas, Sharon and Brooklyn, nephews, Raul Chavez and Michael Chavez, nieces, Celina Garcia and Monica Abeyta. Jerry is also survived by his longtime partner, Lucella Gonzales and her children, Carlos, Andy, Francisco and Anita. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening, March 26 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd. SW, Albuquerque. Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Church of the Ascension. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raul Chavez, Michael Chavez, Lucas Griego, Robert Otero, Claudio Dimas and Robert Chavez. Honorary pallbearer will be Francisco Gonzales.
