LUCAS: MARTHA AREHART made her home near Lucas for more than 60 years. She and her husband Richard were pillars in the local community, their faith fellowship Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, and great supporters of Ohio's historic landmark, Malabar Farm.

Martha passed away Saturday morning February 15, 2014 in Lexington Court Care Center. She was 91.

Born Martha Irene Griebling, September 3, 1922 at Lexington to Henry and Emma (Schmidt) Griebling, she was graduated from Lexington High School in 1940.

She married Richard E. Arehart on June 21, 1947 and Martha was his helpmate, supporting Richard's countless activities and projects in the Lucas area. The name Arehart was synonymous with community service in Lucas promoting agriculture, education, service clubs and the arts. Richard preceded her in death October 29, 2004.

She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert & Margaret Arehart of Lexington and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Helen Schumacher, Margery Scott and Marie Rider and a brother Clarence (Helen) Griebling.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving her family with compassionate cremation services. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Lucas.

Contributions in her memory to Malabar Farm Foundation may be made at the funeral home.
