MCLEAN -- Carlton E. Gregory, D.D.S., died Nov. 2, 1999, in an automobile accident.
Born in Callands, Va., he practiced general and restorative dentistry in Arlington for more than 40 years. After attending Averett College and the University of Richmond, he graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1951. He served as administrative officer in the USAF from 1942-1946, completed Officer Candidate School and attained the rank of major. He was past president and fellow of the Virginia State Dental Association, fellow of the Virginia State Dental Association, fellow in the American Academy of Prosthodontics, member of American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and delegate to the American Dental Association. He served as past president of Kiwanis Club of Arlington, board member of Arlington Chamber of Commerce and was a life member of the Washington Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Morton Gregory; three daughters, Julia Gregory Sleeman of Richmond, Dr. Mary E. Gregory of Arlington and Donna Gregory Hutcheson of Springfield; two sons, Carlton E. Gregory Jr. of Alexandria and Claiborne B. ``Chip'' Morton of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Audrey Gregory Finney of Martinsville and Stella Gregory McCubbins of Callands.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington, Arlington, Va. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McLean Presbyterian Church, 1020 Balls Hill Road, McLean. Interment will be in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCV Foundation, c/o MCV School of Dentistry, P.O. Box 980234, Richmond, VA 23298.
