Grace Greenland Couch, age 90, passed away Dec. 26, 2005 in Paradise. Grace was born on July 31, 1915 in the Philippines to Wilbur C. Greenland and Pilar del Villar Greenland*. She was formerly of San Jose, Calif., where she was an administrative assistant for 20 years with Food Machinery Corporation. She moved to Paradise in 1975. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Magille Couch. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Hollin of Paradise; brother, Joseph Greenland of Boise, Idaho; niece, Pamela del Villar; nephew, Bruce Greenland and three great-nieces, Christina del Villar, Corina and Cassidy Greenland and great-nephew, Tom Boss. Memorial mass will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A reception will follow the mass in the Parish Hall. Arrangements under the direction of Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home. Family requests donations in her memory be made to Paradise Hospice or a favorite charity in care of the chapel.

*Note: Her father Wilbur was stationed in the Philippines in 1898-1901 during the Spanish-American war. He married Pilar del Villar, the daughter of a Spanish ship captain, and remained in the Philippines until about 1936, when he brought his family home to California. Sometime between 1936 & 1940 Wilbur and Pilar were divorced. Grace & Magille Couch were married on November 26, 1947.
