Mrs. Emma Greene. 61 years old.
wife of the late Hiram Greene, veteran
bandmaster of the Tuscarora reservation
died of heart trouble at her
home on the Mountain road early today.
Mrs. Greene was the daughter
of the late Elias Johnson and Julia Ann (Jack) Greene, former president
of the council of chiefs on the
Tuscarora reservation and noted writer
on Indian subjects. She is survived
by three sons Romeo J., Ralph E . of
this city and Elton E.. of Florida, and
by one daughter Violetta Cecile Hill of this
city and also Eulalia Greene.
Mrs. Greene has lived on the reservation
all her life, and was a musician
and author. She played the piano and
organ. A number of her books were
published. Her husband died only
two weeks ago. He was a noted musician
and every member of the family
has been Instructed In tho use of
one or more musical instruments. Mr.
Greene played with the old Forty-
Second Separate company band. His
son Romeo Is leader of the Rogers
band.

She married Hiram in 1884. Her daughter mentioned was married to Mr Hill, not Mr Bill and her name was Violetta Cecile. There was another daughter named Eulalia Greene.
