Bernice had two sisters, Catherine and Rosemary, with whom she remained close throughout her life. She attended St. Gerard's High School and met her husband, Eugene Cooper Gray, at a USO dance and the two were married on February 26, 1946. Together, Gene and Bernice had many warm friendships and lived a vibrant life surrounded by the people they loved. They were a couple for whom the belief "the more, the merrier" truly applied. Gene and Bernice raised two children, Don and Diane.
After Gene passed away in 1977, Bernice continued to live a very active life. Her many passions included travel, dancing, bunko and dominoes with her girls, caring for children, and time spent with her family, friends, and kin. A parishioner at St. Padre Pio's, she was a member of the Silver Pace Setters and for many years volunteered at the church. Bernice had tremendous love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she relished all social occasions, lived life to the fullest, and never allowed age or circumstance to slow her down or diminish her love of life.
Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Cooper Gray, her sister Catherine Mushall Dudley, and brother-in-law Bill Dudley.
She is survived by her son Don Gray and Madlyn of San Antonio, TX, and daughter Diane and Don McLaughlin of Hooksett, NH; grandchildren Meredith Peters, Deena Helmke, and Bonnie Gray; great grandchildren Zachary Gray, Joshua Kemp, and Brandon Kemp; sister and brother-in-law Rosemary and Thomas Hennessey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
