Evelyn Bootsma, age 73, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

Memorial Service will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley. Rev. Roger Bouwman officiating.

Graveside Service at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 6, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. all at the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley.

Evelyn Joyce Bootsma was born on September 27, 1938, in Dike, Iowa, Grundy County. She was the daughter of Henry and Gepka (Van Deest) Graves. She lived her youth in Dike, Iowa, where she attended school and graduated from high school. She attended Dordt College and received her teaching certificate. She was of the second class to graduate from Dordt. She taught at Sheldon Christian School in Sheldon, Iowa and Wellsburg Christian School in Wellsburg, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Garrold Bootsma of Sanborn, Iowa on June 1, 1960. They farmed near Ocheyedan, Iowa for 4 years and Harris, Iowa for 20 years, before moving to Sibley, Iowa, where they lived for 27 years. Evelyn worked at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon for 20 years at Freewheelers as a House Counselor. She retired in 2008.

She was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church in Sibley, where she was the leader of the Ruth Society. She was a Calvinette Leader when they lived in Ocheyedan.

Evelyn was a member of the Midwest Evangelism League Committee. She volunteered at Trash for Cash at the Christian School and Bibles for Missions in Worthington and at New Beginnings in Sibley. Her hobby was going to auctions and garage sales.

Evelyn's family was very important to her. She was a strong, loving, caring and giving, wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren especially enjoyed Grandma's Store at Christmas. She was a quiet person who focused on others needs before her own.

She passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 51 years: Garrold Bootsma; her children: Rhonda and Kean Kuiper of Round Rock, TX, Brenda and Carl Czirr of Brooklyn, OH, David and Donna Bootsma of Harris, IA, Daniel and Kristy Bootsma of Lombard, IL, Debra and Bruce Mosier of Sanborn, IA, Jason and Holly Bootsma of Sioux Falls, SD; 20 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Raymond (Johanna) Graves of Holland, MI, Lawrence (Dorothy) Graves of Cedar Falls, IA, Dennis (Bev) Graves of Dike, IA; 2 sisters: Irene Neuberger of Cedar Falls, IA and Beverly Tanis of Freeport, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson: Ethan Kuiper; 3 brothers: Harold Graves, Joe (Elsie) Graves, Marvin (Beulah) Graves; 1 sister: Leona (Ed) Groenewald; brother-in-law: Lincoln Neuberger.
