Girl Loses Life
In Auto Accident
A Riverside girl suffered fatal injuries and her husband less serious hurts when the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a car at Coast highway and Heliotrope avenue, Corona del Mar, yesterday afternoon, Newport Beach police reported
Deaths from accidents on county highways thus reached the 38 mark as compared to 54 for the corresponding period last year.
Betty Granttham, 17, was the victim, officers reported. Suffering from a broken leg and other injuries is her husband, Lloyd Granttham, 27, of 3759 Second street, Riverside.
Granttham's motorcycle, officers, said, entered the heavily traveled highway at Heliotrope and crashed into the side of an automobile operated by Henry Columber, 62, of 710 Rose Avenue, Venice. Columber was uninjured.
The girl's body was taken to the Harold Grauel chapel in Costa Mesa, where the Coroner Earl R. Abbey said an inquest will be conducted.
The young woman was born in Los Angeles county. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Robertson of Ventura, and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Mannell of Riverside and Mrs. Lorraine Champion
of Highland Park. Announcement of funeral services will be made later by the Grauel chapel.
