Marian Jeanette (Grano) Burge passed away peacefully on September 12, 2011. Marian was born February 17, 1924 in South Haven, MI to Charles and Lillian (Corso) Grano. After graduating high school there, she attended business school to pursue a career as a secretary. WWII had begun and she chose to show her support by working at Overton's, stamping wood rifle stocks in the factory, where her father also worked. She later went on to do clerical work in Grand Rapids, MI for the Army Ordnance.
She married Charles E. "Ed" Burge on November 1, 1945 in South Haven where they resided for some time and raised their son. She was much admired for her beautiful home, which she enjoyed remodeling and decorating. Shortly after the death of her husband in 1978, she moved to California where her mother had moved to. There she enjoyed traveling, bowling and visiting with her relatives in that area, with her close friend Vic Genco.
In 2002, health issues arose so she moved to Kalamazoo to be near her son.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed, her son, Charles T. Burge, and a brother, Angelo Grano. She is survived by her grandson, Charles Burge of Kalamazoo; two great grandchildren; her brother, Charles (Irma) Grano of California; a daughter-in-law, Marie Burge as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Private graveside services will be held in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, MI. Arrangements by:
